The Carver Tigers roared to victory in the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class 2A state championship, capping an undefeated season with a 24-7 win over Hapeville Charter at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. With a 14-0 record heading into the game, the Tigers showcased their prowess, led by first-year head coach Jarvis Jones, who expressed his admiration for the team's dedication.
The game began with Carver taking a 3-0 lead, but it was the freshman quarterback Sebastian Heard's 38-yard pass to senior wide receiver Keimaurii Miles that ignited the Tigers' offense, resulting in a 10-0 lead at halftime. Hapeville Charter kept the score close with a 6-yard scoring pass from junior quarterback Jeylan Pope to wide receiver Cedric Walker, trailing 10-7 at the break.
The Cougars mounted a challenge in the second half, but Carver's defense, one of the state's best, held firm. Running back Jakobe Caslin's 1-yard run in the fourth quarter and senior defensive back Jamarcus Davis' interception return for a touchdown sealed the victory.
Freshman running back Zach Watts stood out with 64 yards on 10 carries, showcasing the Cougars' offensive prowess. Carver's defense dominated, limiting Hapeville Charter to just 96 total yards of offense.
