Google just dropped a surprise for early adopters of their Pixel Buds Pro! An update is coming to enhance your audio experience.
The tech giant has released firmware version 5.11 for the 2022 Pixel Buds Pro, promising bug fixes and improvements in performance and security. This update follows the significant version 5.9 release in October 2023, which brought exciting features like Conversation Detection and Hearing Wellness, and reduced audio lag for gamers.
Here's how to get the new update: Open the Pixel Buds app on your Android device, navigate to More settings, and select Firmware update. Alternatively, visit mypixelbuds.google.com on your desktop.
But here's where it gets a little tricky:
- If you're a fan of automatic updates, your Pixel Buds Pro will update seamlessly when connected to a Pixel or Android 6.0+ device. The download takes around 10 minutes, and you can continue using your earbuds as usual. Once downloaded, the update installs when you return the earbuds to the charging case with enough battery. If no update notification appears, rest assured your firmware is up-to-date.
- For those who prefer manual control, a notification will alert you of available updates when automatic updates are off. However, the update won't download or install automatically. You'll need to manually initiate the download on your phone, which takes approximately 15 minutes.
